Team Illinois
Team Illinois is our way to crown the best players in the state of Illinois. As it sounds, Team Illinois is only open to people who are a resident of Illinois for at least part of the year. Team Illinois will consist of the top 10 men’s players and 2 women’s players in our tournament series. Perks of being on Team Illinois include: exclusive merch, priority features on our website and Instagram, discounted registration to future Illinois Roundnet events, and having the 1st choice to represent Illinois in any state squad tournaments in the next year.
Who is eligible: any player who lives in Illinois for at least 3 months of the year(part of which must be before the tournament series ends). Examples of who’s eligible: full time residents, players who go to college in Illinois, college students who reside in Illinois but go to an out of state school, and anyone on an internship or work assignment. If you are unsure if you qualify, send an email to illinoisroundnet@gmail.com and explain the situation.

Qualifying Process-2025
The tournaments in our series are where players can earn points towards the Team Illinois standings. The 10 men’s players and 2 women’s players who finish with the highest cumulative point totals will make Team Illinois. Points will be rewarded based on a player’s finish in the top division(s) at an event. Results do count towards Team Illinois points if an Illinois player plays a tournament with an out of state player.
Men’s and women’s players will earn points based on a standard event scale. There will also be elevated point scales that carry a 1.5x and 2x multiplier from the standard event scale at bigger events. Here is the list of events where points are available for each.
Men’s
South Elgin 5/10
Palatine 6/7
USAR Regional-Oak Brook 7/19(2x through top 64)
State Championship 8/2(1.5x)
Notes
*The South Elgin USAR/MRS Sectional will allow for points to trickle down from the Premier(5.0) division down to the Contender(4.0) division. This will only extend to the top 32 finishers across the 2 divisions. For example, if there are 20 teams in the Premier(5.0) division, then 1st place in the Contender(4.0) division would earn 21st place points in the Team Illinois standings.
*Oak Brook’s men’s points will have a 2x multiplier to account for it being a bigger national event as a USAR Regional. The points scale will also be extended to include the top 64 finishers. This will include a trickle down from the Premier(5.0+) division into the Contender(4.0) division. This means the top 64 teams across the Premier(5.0+) and Contender(4.0) divisions can earn elevated points. For example, if there’s 24 teams in the Premier(5.0+) division, then the 1st place team in the Contender(4.0) division would earn 25th place points. This would go on up to the top 64 teams across those top 2 divisions.
*The state championship in St Charles will carry a 1.5x multiplier to the standard points scale. This is to encourage our best players to play in the final event of the year. This has been the case the past couple years and has played a big part in determining who makes Team Illinois.
*In the event that turnout is ever really low(less than 10 teams), ILR reserves the right to use a lower points multiplier to keep the points race as equitable as possible across the whole series.
Women’s
South Elgin 5/10-Women’s
Palatine 6/7-Expert
Oak Brook 7/19-Women’s(1.5x)
State Championship 8/2-Women’s
Notes
*Women’s players can also earn points for the women’s spots on Team IL by playing in the top open division at events without a women’s division. This also applies if a planned women’s division doesn’t get enough teams to run. They would get the points based on their finish in that division(ex finishing 13th in one of those events would earn 13th place points from that event’s points scale towards the women’s standings).
*The women’s division at the USAR Regional in Oak Brook will use the 1.5x multiplier points scale.
*All other women's divisions that run will use the standard points scale.
*If a women’s player chooses to play in any open divisions when a women’s division is offered and has enough teams to run, they would not be able to earn points. They must play in the women’s division in order to gain Team Illinois points in the women’s standings in those scenarios.
The point scales for open divisions can be seen in full below.
