We are so stoked to be continuing the tradition of having a Spikeball Tour Series event in Chicagoland! Illinois Roundnet is partnering with the STS for us to host this challenger event as part of their season schedule. This will be nothing short of an epic event at a premier sports complex that is down the street from the tournament hotel. The weekend will make for lots of roundnet and fun times with players from all over the country.

Venue

Olympic Park(fields 1 and 2)

1675 Old Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg, IL, USA

Olympic Park lives up to its name being one of the biggest sports complexes in the area. It boasts plenty of nice turf fields that will allow for high quality roundnet. It’s also in one of Chicago’s best suburbs with plenty of things to do outside of the tournament and places to eat within a short drive. There will be a room block at the Marriott hotel located down the street which is within walking distance of the fields. We also have a room block at the Fairfield Inn Schaumburg which is only a short drive away.

Surface: Turf

Divisions

Saturday

Premier(5.0): This is the top division - players must qualify to be eligible to play! This division uses the NHZ

Women’s: Women are welcome to play in any division. This division will include some top women's teams as well as other lady ballers who want to test their skills against great competition. We will organize the women's division based on skill level and number of registrations in a way to get the most competitive and evenly matched games whether you're a pro or new to the scene. We’ll most likely have 1-2 power pools that will be for the top teams based on season points. NHZs will be drawn for all women’s nets but if a team isn’t comfortable with it yet, each of their matchups will be played without it for both teams.

Contender(4.5): Think you're good? Prove it. This division will include some solid teams from across the country itching for premier as well as competitive players who want to test their skills against great competition. The top 3 teams from Contender qualify for Premier. This division uses the NHZ

Advanced(4.0): This division is for those teams that have refined skills but are not ready to compete to qualify for Premier. This division uses the NHZ.

Intermediate(3.0): If you are newer or still honing your skills this is the division for you. It is intended for people who want competition but are still developing their game. This division doesn’t use the NHZ

Sunday

Mixed Advanced(4.0+): The mixed gender advanced(4.0+) division will include some solid players from across the country competing for points & Coed Pro! This division uses the NHZ

Mixed Intermediate(2.0-3.0): The mixed gender intermediate(2.0-3.0) division is for those that are a newer player or still honing your skills. It is intended for people who want competition but are still developing their game. Use the average player ratings between both teammates to estimate where you fit. This division doesn’t use the NHZ

Free Agent: If you want to play in this event but don’t have a partner secured yet, sign up as a free agent! This will not only get your name out there to potential partners but you’ll also get to pay the registration price for when you signed up as a free agent. It’s a great way to make sure you pay the cheaper early registration fees. Once you lock in a partner, email the TD if the price has risen and they will give you a code to sign up with. This must be done before registration closes. When registering as a free agent, put what division you want to play in as your “team name.”

If you’re still unsure which division to play in, check out the more detailed descriptions on the USA Roundnet website here: https://www.usaroundnet.org/player-division-ratings

*Disclaimer: If a division does not get enough teams registered, you will be moved to another appropriate division or you can request a full refund.

Format

You will start the day with pool play. You will be placed into a pool of other teams. Ideally we will have smaller pools of 5-6 teams so games can be to 21, however we may have to do pools of 7-8 with games to 15 depending on the total number of teams. After each game you will input your score on the event’s Fwango page from your phone(you will be emailed the link and instructions to do this). Then based on pool play results, you will be seeded into a bracket based on record and point differential. The goal will be to have most if not all bracket matches be a best 2 out of 3 series with games to 21. The bracket will be played out until we have a winner. If you lose your 1st bracket match, you will be placed into a consolation bracket so everyone is guaranteed at least 2 matches. All results of the tournament will be available in real time on the Fwango page

*Format is subject to change at TDs discretion based on the number of teams, time, etc.

Rules

We will be using the 2023 USA Roundnet rules at all Illinois Roundnet events. Be sure to familiarize yourself with these if you are new to the tournament scene. https://www.usaroundnet.org/rules
